今月の新刊で目立つのは 小さな命が呼ぶとき [DVD]、珍しく製薬関係の映画です。今年の夏に公開された映画が早くも DVD 化されました。詳しいあらすじなどは wikipedia を参照していただきたいのですが、簡単に言えば、治療薬のない難病のポンペ病の子供を持つ父親ジョン・クラウリーがポンぺ病の権威の科学者に会いに行き、それまでのキャリアを捨てて治療薬を開発する会社を設立して奔走する様が描かれた作品。ちなみに、この話は実話に基づいて作られた映画で、ジョンは現在もポンぺ病の治療薬の開発に取り組んでいます。映画にはないその後の話も、近々このブログで紹介したいと思います。
